What's Involved

Two Weeks.
One City.

Hobart's winter festival draws locals and tourists into the streets — and with that comes a particular spiritual openness that's hard to find at other times of year. In previous years, under the Light Up Hobart banner, we've seen dozens of Christians actively blessing people with the gospel, prayer and hospitality. This year we're building on that, with two distinct but connected initiatives.

Both initiatives flow from the same conviction — that sustained prayer and active outreach together create something greater than either alone.

Outreach

Each night of the festival, we'll gather in the St David's Cathedral courtyard as a base of hospitality: hot drinks, pancakes, conversation and a warm welcome. From there, teams move through the city to pray and share the love of God.

There's a place for everyone — whether that's serving at the base or going out with a team.

Gathering from 6pm each evening, Friday – Sunday, across both weekends (12–14 Jun and 19–21 Jun).

Prayer & Worship

From 7am Thursday 18 June through to midnight Sunday 21 June, we'll hold continuous prayer and worship at the Waterside Pavilion on the wharf near Mures. This is a new initiative this year: a space for the church to unify under the name of Jesus, minister to the Father, and intercede for the city.

We're expecting hundreds of Christians to move through across the days, with anchored times each morning, midday, evening and through the night. Join for a specific moment, or simply come and add to hosting His presence.

Prayer is diverse — adoration, intercession, contemplation, petition. Creativity is welcomed. Get in touch to offer your gift.
